Dark day for poker bloggers
No witty banter today about the night at the bar, playing the Mookie last night from the bar with BigMike, and somehow finishing third in the Stud8 Dookie.
I woke this morning to the crushing site of the hacked and deleted words of the Blogfather. I don't know if it was someone with a grudge, a wondering despot, or some moron getting his rocks off. None of that matters because 4 years of uber-posts and blogger history has been wiped out.
I've spent my morning trying to do everything I can. It seems impossible to get an actual live person who works for blogger. I've sent many emails to anyone I could think of but no luck so far.
If you have any ideas, I'm certain Iggy would be very appreciative.
Cheers to the Blogfather and a quick return of his words.

I've really enjoyed the discussions going around post-BBT challenge and getting every one's thoughts. I'll be posting my thoughts over the next couple of days addressing many things which have been brought up. I wanted to sit back for awhile and let everything poor in. The first thing I want to bring up seems like common sense to me but I don't recall anyone mentioning this during the challenge.
A common theme throughout the challenge was players/bloggers bitching about players who were only playing for the points or went uber tight near the 'points bubble'. You know what I say to that? Jesus Christ, please clamp it up. Why would you try to change the playing style of someone you are trying to take money from?
We as poker players (and I use we very very lightly since I'm barely a player) should be looking for opportunities to press our edge against other players at the table. Whether it's a player who is way so loose that they are easy to exploit or someone so uber-aggressive that you can trap them for all their chips or a tournament player who plays less then optimum strategy. Isn't that the guy you want donating to the prizepool especially if he's sitting at your table?
The player who went uber-tight near the points bubble was certainly not playing proper poker and should have been an easy mark. I say we need MORE players like this, not less. More dead money and one less person in the pool playing with a winning strategy. As a poker player looking to be successful at any level, you want them because these players are not only beneficial but absolutely necessary.
So I say this to everyone. No matter what point system we use for the next BBT challenge, I ask you to please refrain from bitching about point chasers and uber-tight point bubblers. Consider this a plea, Don't Tap the MTT Glass! I like my fish just the way they are.
Thisrant whimpy-ass post brought to you by the letters S O C O. As I told Mookie, how am I supposed to form a lucid argument against the MTT Taping of the Glass when I'm more concerned with whether my insides are trying to get outside?

I have some new interesting numbers provided by world class number cruncher Mookie. I will post them tomorrow once I get them formatted. Would anyone like to know how the leaderboard would look if we only awarded points to the top 20%? Well I have them and will get them out.

Feel free to join us tonight for the bi-weekly Riverchasers game. Always a good time and I'll get there as soon as I'm through entertaining the great unwashed masses this evening at the bar.

I Don't Like Mondays
"An alcoholic is someone you don't like who drinks as much as you do."BigMike pointed to a spot about an inch below the top of his pint glass and said "I'd like you to fill it up to here with vodka then I'll wave the Red Bull can over the top."

Just another typical weekday at my second job as a braincell hitman. Not much action going on in the bar last night unless you want to talk about the old couple at the end of the bar who gave me the willies every time their dentures clicked together as they made out and pawed at each other.
I was forced to watch the Homerun Derby because the only other options were FoxNews, CNN, or MSNBC, none of which translates very well via Closed Captioning especially Michael Moore. Luckily the sound was off for the Derby so I wasn't stuck listening to fatass Berman and the other 2 dozen commentators. It was god awful boring and I couldn't believe they throw it back to the studio for analysis. I have no idea what they said but they kept me throwing back the booze in an effort to purge the knowledge from my brain.
But goddamn is it fun to watch Vlad Guerrero swing a bat.

Phils still stuck on 9,999 loses thanks to the All-Star break and I may get to see them hit the 10,000 lose mark. I'll be hitting up the Deadspin gathering thanks to 700Level.com. Tailgating, Phils game with drunken Deadspinners, and party in the city afterwards. I don't possibly see how this could end well.
If the Phils lose number 10,000 on Saturday, can we throw a parade?

I promised Battle of the Blogger Tournament numbers for profit/loss during the 3 month challenge and they are done. Once again keeping in mind that the numbers are based strictly on the buy-in amounts. You may use the insta-Waffles method of justifying your loses but I'm not buying it. A satellite buyin is really no different than my preferred method of hitting up the cash game tables to make my nut for the tournament buyin. If that's the case then I'm ahead because I freerolled into everyone.
And for the record, that is my name WAY at the bottom of the list. If you see me registered for a poker tournament you might as well consider my buyin as an overlay.
Feel free to analyze to your heart's content. I give you the raw numbers and leave the analysis to those smarter and more sober.
Here you go, profit/loss numbers for the BBT Challenge.
Update: Sean asks and I provide.

Weekend = Lazy
"Progress isn't made by early risers. It's made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something."Weekends were always my refuge from the weekday grind of the work-booze-passout-work cycle. Now it's going a step further and I'm avoiding the internet for the most part also. Exemptions are granted for checking WSoP updates, baseball scores, blatant music piracy, and the current state of online pornography. This weekend was no change as I actually spent time socializing with live human beings and seeing mother nature in a setting other than standing out on my back deck for a quick smoke.

My weekend was spent sitting on the deck of the Boathouse overlooking the valley as Landow kicked my ass in various forms of card games. He may have kicked my ass in Chinese Poker but I still won the battle of the liver though. And the battle of overtippers as well. Then there was Sunday brunch with the
Throw in one of those nice summer colds and I barely even thought about picking up the laptop most of the time.

Last week was odd with the Wednesday holiday and I chose to spend it not thinking about the past BBT Challenge, the numbers involved, and the posts that are promised. The MATH and Mookie tournaments continued on and I didn't have to check the stats the next morning or find out about potential chops at the end. No spreadsheets or leaderboards or dealing with quirky little blogger comments about point systems.
Tomorrow I will present you with the final bit of data collected which may take some by surprise. The Profit/Loss numbers from every entrant during the entire series. Keeping in mind that I have no way to track who bought in with tokens, the numbers are still interesting. It will also go further to prove that I am the deadest money in any poker tournament.
Standby for that tomorrow.

We do have a full week of the regular blogger tournaments and time to start rolling. Forgiveness will be granted for the low signups last week with the holiday and maybe a break needed after the final BBT stretch but it's time to come back to your friends.
