Saturday's with Dr. Pauly, BritBloggerment and Big Game

Hop in today for Saturday's with Dr. Pauly on PokerStars. Relax, pour yourself a drink and throw some chips around playing 4 card bingo (aka Pot Limit Omaha).

The Brit Blogger Game is Sunday and should be a nice warmup before the hell of BBT3 kicks in Sunday night with the Blogger Big Game.

Time to put this thing in gear

All current BBT3 information can be found here.

I'm currently running on 3 hours of sleep but hit the mortal nuts at work when I found out that I completed everything for my project by 9:30. That leaves plenty of time for useless anti-social behavior, it just might require a liquid lunch afternoon. Dammit to me for not taking Riggs and CK up on their trip to AC this morning. Staying at the pub until 4am usually isn't the brightest of ideas with the completion of a big project due the next morning but something odd happened.

I stayed sober.

Not a single drink from 5pm to 4am. I don't know what came over me. Maybe a last ditch effort in my old age to show just a little responsibility.

I played a little bit in the Riverchasers game last night, likely the last blogger game with a reasonable field for the near future. I went out in wonderful FTP fashion in a three handed pot that included Waffles. Just trying to get a little Waffle bust out action when I flopped a set, turned a boat and ended up getting rivered by a bigger boat. Fortunately it wasn't the worst poker player ever who busted me.

The rest of my night consisted of annoying sobriety in the midst of ear shattering karaoke ringing throughout the pub.

Nice hand sir, well played.

Are you prepared for the start of BBT3? The kickoff is this Sunday at 21:30ET with the Blogger Big Game. $75 buyin or Tier II token. Myself, I just buy straight. I already hate tournaments (is that irony?) so why bother forcing myself to play a tournament to get into another tournament. If satellites are your thing than I certainly suggest hitting up the daily token frenzies on FTP. Super soft.

I have 2 free days open before 13 weeks of number crunching and being the referee in cute little blogger disputes. Good times. So I think I will spend my last few hours sitting in quiet contemplation amongst the children of the damned. Also known has 16 hour benders with my friends at the bar.

So rest up my friends and hold on for 3 months of craziness. At the end of the rainbow are 7 WSoP seats and a truckload of free cash.

See you Sunday night, drink well this weekend.

Eh Vegas: Newby Meets the Afternoon Shift

We interrupt BBT3 information for a little Eh Vegas story. BBT3 information can be found here.

Sitting at the infamous Toronto club The Brass Rail, Riggs called over to the waitress, "Olivia, can I get another drink?"

She just shook her head and smiled.

He tried again, "Ophelia, can I get another drink?"

Another smile, another no.

She may have been one of the most stunning women I've ever seen and that's saying a lot. Riggs lost his shit the moment he saw her and couldn't stop staring. He broke the number one rule of strip clubs. Under no circumstance do you fall in love with the hired help. He was a broken man trying every used up line that a long-time-married, long-time-breeder could come up with. The only information he could get out of her was the first initial of her first name and she wasn't prepared to serve him anymore drinks until he guessed her name.

We decided long before heading to Eh Vegas that we were going to combine a little BadBlood Procedure with my tradition of checking out the afternoon shift at the clubs. One can always tell the quality of those establishments by the talent during their slow times. BamBam, Carson, Riggs and myself walked into the bar early and joined the other 3 degenerates spending their afternoon with strippers instead of their children.

I took my preferred station in these situations. Back to the wall, facing the stage, bar to the right and very close, big obstacles between myself and the skanks. There always needs to be a filter because you can always make rooms for those worth the effor. Carson, obviously a seasoned pro, took the table next to mine while BamBam was across from him. Riggs the newby took the worst possible spot. His back was to both the stage and the bar. The only entertainment he would get without tweaking his neck would be watching me power drink my way through a migraine.

You spend enough time around them and you realize that dancers have some sixth sense alerting them to dumb fresh meat. We hadn't even begun to chum the waters when the first girl we saw on stage made a beeline for our seats going right past the two Canucks and planting her ass firmly on Riggs lap.

"You vant dance?" I don't know if she was from the former Soviet Bloc but when I can't hear them speak, experience tells me that is what they sound like. He was slopping scotch all over the table, "ah ah um ah, I really need to get a few more of these drink ah in me." God damn amateurs.

I was having none of that. I reached into my pocket which was stuffed with monopoly money, aka pretty little Canadian dollars, and threw a $20 at her to get his ass in gear. I didn't realize I was priming the pump that would empty his wallet. 5 songs later and we boys were getting a little concerned. Text pages of "GET OUT" and phone calls went unheeded. Another 5 songs later he walked back to us with the thousand yard stare of a man lighter in the wallet.

Not only had he dumped $200 on the first girl straight out of the gate but, god help me Dr. Pauly, he fell for a classic stripper line the entire time.

"I'm from XXXXXX (insert random eastern European nation). I'm working to make money to get an operation for my child. He has a club foot."

Later in the evening Astin would tell Riggs that she obviously knew we were from the States. Canada has universal health care you dope. He did seem to enjoy this lap dance better than his first on Friday. The evening before he dropped 2 bills on a girl and all they did was talk about finance and hockey. Riggs falling for a stripper line is a definite improvement.

But he still had one out left and that lovely creature's name began with an "O". He yelled over another name receiving the same response, smile with head shake. Obviously somebody needed to have pity on this poor soul and relief came in the form of a bartender. When the beauty was looking away from this beast the bartender moved his way down to our end and whispered a word.

"Olga, can I please get another drink"

Riggs hit his one outter with a little help from a friend. She smiled, walked over and granted his wish of conversation with a bottomless glass of scotch and water. He really hasn't been right in the head ever since.

More BBT3 information

May god bless Mookie and all his banner making glory. Amen.

We're getting closer to the Sunday kickoff of Battle of the Blogger Tournament 3 and I have most of the payout structure set in stone for your viewing pleasure. There are still some minor details to be worked out but the big ticket prizes are locked up. I'll try to answer as many questions as I can through out the challenge, feel free to drop the questions in comments or shoot me an email.

- As we've done in the past, this is open to bloggers and readers alike. This will obviously rub some people the wrong way but there isn't a lot I can do about it. The admin work on this challenge is going to be daunting enough as it is. Besides, as I've always said, this is a battle of the blogger hosted tournaments. They were never limited to bloggers-only before the challenge.

- 100% of the money used for tournament buyins will stay with that prizepool (with the exception of knockout tournaments). Full Tilt is not taking extra juice from the buyins to fund these prizes. That means we are going to have some monster payouts in each individual tournament on top of the prizes provided by FTP.

- We are going to be tracking the leaderboard throughout the entire challenge and will be paying out money plus FTP swag to the top players at the end. Below is how we will payout the final standings at the end of the challenge ($2,600 in prize money):
1st - $750
2nd - $600
3rd - $500
4th - $400
5th - $350
6th - 20th on the leaderboard will receive an FTP Jersey
Below is the formula we are using for the point system, top 25% of each tournament field will receive leaderboard points:
Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)]

Where:
n is the number of entrants
k is the place of finish (k=1 for the first-place finisher, and so on)
b is the buy-in amount in dollars.
The leaderboard will be updated daily then loaded on BBTChallenge.com and on FTP's promotion page.

- In addition to tracking the overall leaderboard, we will also have a Player of the Month for March, April and May. The player who earns the most points during the events of that month will win one of the $2,000 WSoP Bracelet packages.

- The rest of the seats will be awarded at the end of the challenge in a Tournament of Champions. For the ToC We will be awarding the two Main Event seats and the remaining two $2,000 WSoP Bracelet packages. All you need to do in order to qualify for the Tournament of Champions is win one of the scheduled events during the next three months.

Those are your specific payouts. There are still some things being ironed out concerning the end of challenge freeroll but those will be done shortly. There is also a write-in contest that will not involve the TOC, instead it will award a $2,000 travel package for the winner to blog for FTP from the series. I will have more information on that once the challenge kicks off.

With the added pressure of big prizes added to the regular blogger events, I suspect that things will get a little testy. I'm appealing to my friends, fellow bloggers, readers and random players to enjoy this challenge as much as possible. This will likely as big a payout as anyone is going to give us as private tournament hosts. Take advantage of the huge schools of dead money fish that will be rushing for their shot at glory when in fact they are just bloating the prize pools. Let's try to keep a sane head about ourselves and not let the added pressure make this an unpleasant experience.

I will update when I have more information but this should be enough to get everyone prepared for the 3 month onslaught.

Good luck to everyone, may the deck smack you in the face.

Short recap and BBT3 information

Nothing fancy this fine day. Everyone concerned can stop ringing the cell phone off the hook, I'm alive and in relatively decent shape. Just some quick hitters and then I'm off to bury my head in something deep and soft. I'm mean my pillow, you damn dirty degenerates.

- Big thanks to the Eh-Vegas crew who welcome us Yanks into their country without even the slightest sideways look from the border patrol. Myself, Riggs and BWoP battle out way through the Friday snow storm in a 12 hour trek. "WE" battled actually means that Riggs drove, BWoP kept him company and I slept off my Thursday night hangover.

- Kat is one heck of a hostess, Astin is a master in the kitchen and Riggs has named BamBam the "Al of the Canucks". Kat took us to the Brass Rail Friday evening. Astin fired up a metric ton of medium rare elk. BamBam completely drank my ass under the table.

- Olga was her name. One of the most stunning woman I have ever seen. God bless you in Toronto. It's 100 degrees below freezing 360 days a year yet the city has an impressive amount of beautiful women. Outstanding.

- I predicted that I was going to win the live eh-Vegas tournament. I did not.

- I was kicked out of BamBam's hotel room twice in the same evening. Once by security, once by BamBam himself.

- The Canadian Procedure was successfully pulled off by myself, Riggs, BamBam and Carson. The afternoon shift was top shelf. Her name, was Olga.

- You can add Casino Niagara to the growing list of poker rooms in which I am no longer welcome. Adding "eh" to the end of "fuck" does not make the language any more acceptable.

- Thanks again to my friends up north for making us feel welcome. We had a blast. Unfortunately I was battling through a monster migraine for most of the weekend. I tried to drink my way through it but that only got me so far. Everyone was rock solid. It was great to see those I had met before and to meet others for the first time.

Cheers.

Things are coming down to the wire figured out the mechanics of BBT3 but we are good to go. We are going to kick if off with MiamiDon's Blogger Big Game this Sunday and run 55 @#$^@&%ing tournaments for the next 13 weeks. Riggs calls this challenge a marriage bender (not breaker).

I'm not going to announce yet how we're going to pay everything out because that is still in progress but I can tell you now what I've got. One seat is nice, two is pretty cool.

7 seats to the World Series of Poker.

Don't ask me how, just enjoy.

Specifically, we're getting two (2) seats in the WSoP Main Event as well as five (5) $2,000 seat packages to preliminary events. We're also getting cash for the leaderboard, freeroll and an interesting little writing contest.

That's what I have to give you at the moment. When I have the payout details you can find it back here. Time to reload the bankroll and take a shot.

Thanks to Mookie for the BBT banners. Feel free to grab them up.
