20,000 Reasons to Play

$20,000 cash money.

$20,035 to be exact. That's how much prizepool money that has been won in the first half of this little blogger tournament challenge we set up. When Mookie, Hoy, and myself first started kicking the idea around I'm not sure how big we thought it would get but I'm happily surprised. I don't know whether it is the combination of FTP rakeback and PokerOnAMac.com prizes that did it or just the consist competition among the different fields that has drawn the numbers. Each tournament has seen an increase in participation and whether you believe it or not, I think the play as drastically improved.

My play in the Mookie ended nice and early last night. I ran my Kings into BigMike's all powerful baby Ace offsooot. Didn't even have the common courtesy to hit the overcard, instead it was the dreaded four flush to send me to the rail. BigMike did power through to make the final table and 6th place money out of 61 players. I wanted to stick around and railbird longer but realized that I had midnight maintenance to perform for work, then turn around and get started at 5am again. Good times.

The whole work thing also meant I didn't do a single bit of boozing all night long. I'll do better this evening. Boathouse, trivia, poker, huge honkin shots. The booze is my muse.

~

Getting to work extra early has some interesting perks and situations. There are two unique women which are employed in our mail room. One is completely bonkers. Constantly talking to herself and gesturing wildly when no one is around. She's also a card carrying member of the Sisters of Perpetual Pokies.

There's also another who has that stripper look about her. Not the dive bar, strung out, "hi my name is Summer and this is my appendix scar" kind of stripper. But the super attractive Delilah's, "didn't my doctor do a great job with my boobs" stripper. Like she was hit in the back with two scud missiles big.

Both are usually hidden away during the day with only brief appearance. This morning I walked to the elevator for my trip to the office when I heard the mail cart enter before I could see who it was. It did have a nice dumper but who could tell. I snuck in, hit the button for my floor, and turned around. There she was in all her frozen nipple glory, speaking in tongues what seemed to be the recipe for a complicated pipe bomb, and throwing punches like she was shadow boxing.

Sometimes I'm happy that we have the slowest elevator in the modern world, this was definitely not one of those times. With two floors to go I was afraid for my life when she started mumbling int he corner. Just yet another reason why I should never go to work early. Or even on time for that matter.

Congrats to Hoyazo for finishing 54 out of over 2500 in FTOPS #6 last night. Nice run sir. Of course, he seems to be happier that he made the BBT points in the Mookie last night. God bless.

Tonight is the Riverchasers event. We've been averaging over 80 players since the start and I'd like to get a nice triple digit number of entrants one of these times. This is a great tournament to unwind at the end of the week with a nice frosty beverage. One detail that I haven't brought up with the Riverchasers events yet is their 6month freeroll. This is completely different from the BBT freeroll and leaderboard. The top 100 Riverchaser point earners at the end of June will be entered in our own $2000 freeroll with the money put up by Riverchasers. Another leaderboard to shoot for.

On Sunday is the biggest blogger game around. MiamiDon's Blogger Big Game for $75 or a tier II token. Last month this tournament had the highest prize pool of any blogger game to date.

Cheers! Now how about some beer pong?

The last calm night of the week

It was one of those nights none of you care about. Not that anyone really cares about my stories they are punctuated by floppy girls or drunken sluts. The night was spent cooking dinner for my mother-in-law and throwing random insults at the sister-in-law. (shiitake and oyster mushroom cream sauce over basil/garlic fettuccine and huge medium-rare steaks on the grill). It was a nice relaxing night at home. When it was over, I sat down to turn on the Phillies game just in time to see Carlos Ruiz walk up to the plate with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth and

Boom goes the dynamite.

The only batter I saw the entire game. I feel bad for MilwaukeeSteve. His Brewcrew got him all excited early in the season by playing in the NL Central and nothing but triple A teams on the schedule. At least he has TO and Julius Jones to look forward to come football season.

All the socially responsible nights for the week are complete paving the way for another string of debauchery. Tonight I head back to check my archive from Friday night (aka asking BobbyBoathouse what kind of nutcake things I did the week before). A friend of ours is playing on the deck this evening with her band. She has a pretty face, beautiful voice, lovely fake cans, and an unfortunate lack of tolerance for Jagermeister. Her friends are generally clothed in shirts with anti-gravity devices. They just won't stay down.

Not one, but two cameras will be on hand tonight to document the festivities and Riverchasers Jim will be there to empty the place of Scotch. That also means that I'll most likely be playing The Mookie from the bar tonight making for a interesting evening. Playing on nights like this I feel I should change my avatar to an ATM while I either give my chips away or lay horrendous beats on donks and their presto. I'll make every effort to get my money in while behind and luckbox my way into Waffles rant land. The phone will be set to dial-a-shot mode so ring me up.

~

To the anonymous assmunch who keeps sending me emails about my lifestyle and posts, my friend has something to say...

No time for Token Frenzy last night and I'm sure to be too busy the rest of the week to bother so I just bought directly into MiamiDon's Blogger Big Game. But don't miss them this week, a $5k prizepool would be very nice on Sunday.

Axel, Waffles, and Strip Scrabble

Songs from Guns 'n Roses forth coming Chinese Democracy leaked online

I read that headline from Blabbermouth.com a couple weeks ago and I thought it was an old story. You see, many many months ago the entire album was leaked on a website.

In case you are new to these parts, I uploaded all the songs from Chinese Democracy last year for anyone who wanted to give them a listen. The entire album was absolute horseshit and further proof that Axel "Botox" Rose has completely lost his mind. It was a year and a month ago that they finally cracked down on me. It's not every day you get a cease and desist letter email from some cock knockers lawyer.

I'm in a pissy enough mood this week that I'm going to track down the new leaks plus maybe post the entire damned album again. Which blogger/lawyer would like to represent me when the shit hits the fan again?

~

Last night was another prizepool over $1,000 in the MATH tourney. I was cruising right along after catching top pair shit kicker as a shortstack then doubled up again with my bottom set versus NewinNov's TPTK. I got lucky a lot but was sitting above par when I went into complete lemur mode. I did what every other poker player has yelled about before when they've been run down by a moron overplaying his overpair. Luckily for BoneDaddy, I wasn't able to complete the 2 outter suckout extraordinaire. I played JJ like it was the nuts when I should have known better. I do know better but I blame the boobs that were bouncing across the TV screen at that exact moment.

It was a complete mental breakdown and I beat myself up over it for awhile.

The interesting part of the evening was getting a table change. Right into the recently vacated Wawfuls seat. It took me two full orbits to figure out exactly who he was ranting and raving at but I knew it was either Smokkee or Jordan. It turns out that Waffles was taking his beating like a man again. So much so that I actually had to turn chat off, it was that annoying. I don't think I've ever been at a table during a 60 minute Waffles explosion. It's not nearly as funny as I'd heard.

So in closing, I have every hope in the world that sometime in the near future we'll be looking back at the good ol' times to laugh about the times when Waffles took every beat like a little girl on the school ground who didn't get her way. He'll just be "knocking" on the virtual table and saying "nice hand". I can dream, can't I?

No BBT tournaments tonight, we pick back up on Wednesday with The Moooookie and Thursday with a 9pm Riverchaser event. Tonight would be another perfect opportunity to hit up the 9:45pm ET Tier 2 Token Frenzy. You want to know how soft these are? I've gotten a token both times I've entered one of these. They are THAT soft.

Congrats to Astin for winning the MATH last night and I keep forgetting to congratulate Mike_Maloney for becoming the first player in the challenge to go over $1000 in winnings. The leaderboard is updated and we have our 4th different leader in Bayne.

Good luck at the tables and see you on Wednesday.

In exchange for a proper post, I present to you the game that is raging across the nation. Strip scrabble.

Always a bridesmaid

Another Sunday tournament, another second place finish. Luckily for me, I have zero skill in attracting enough players to the Bracelet Races so I actually got paid for second place. I yet again fall victim to another local. Last week it was Eva, this week it was Landow. This time though I went into head's up play with a chip deficit near 8 to 1. I last awhile but couldn't battle it all the way uphill and settled for place money. Not bad considering how poorly I played during the first part of the tournament.

Thanks to everyone who came out. I seem to have misjudged the number who would participate as well as being the schmuck who scheduled it at 7pm ET on Mother's Day. I'm sure there are others willing to run with these events and I will backup whoever does, but I'm done. I'll stick to the Battle of the Blogger events and cater to my degenerate money loving side. Those tournaments kick back in starting this evening with the MATH and there are three others which are listed at the bottom. Come on out and pick up some free cash.

~

This is going out to any local bloggers/readers or anyone who wants to make a trip for a good cause and a great time. The Boathouse runs an annual charity golf outing benefiting Melanoma Research. It's a 4 player scramble at Honeybrook Golf Club in lovely Amish country PA. Loads of beer and great time. The Boathouse has a nifty little open bar and free food all afternoon following the tournament. This is always one of the first vacation days I line up at the beginning of the year. A classic day of golf and beer for a great cause.

The outing is Monday, June 25th and $100 a player for anyone interested. Drop me an email if you are.

~

I'd love to write about Friday night at the bar but I think I'm legally forbidden. Something about me holding a limbo stick and wishing desperately that I had my camera in hand. There was Landow, a hula hoop, and a hot Coor's Lite girl. The 1am ugly lights and an utter lack of self control. I am both forbidden and unable to remember most of the details. But I did wake up Saturday afternoon thinking, "that was one hell of a time".

I think.

~

Step right up and continue on the crazy train that we've created with our little Battle of the Blogger Tournaments. By the end of the week we will hit the half way mark of 20 events. We will fly over $20,000 in prize money and $2,000 in rake back from FTP. The leaderboard has tightened up and there are a ton of people still in the running for the cash prizes, the Nintendo gear provided by PokerOnAMac.com, and the end of challenge freeroll. There are three regularly scheduled events this week PLUS the monster Blogger Big Game next Sunday hosted by MiamiDon. The last Big Game had a prize pool of close to $4,000 and I think we can get it higher. Time to concentrate on those FTP Token Frenzies.

Cheers and I'll see you there.
