The world seems a bit off this morning

And if you're standing at a busy bar and the guy next to you just ordered ten shots of SoCo Lime, two Lagers, a Bass, three Miller Lites, a gin & tonic and a Cosmopolitan, it's not quite the right time to tell the bartender that you had this delectable drink in Tucson last month but you don't know what it's called or what's in it, but it's pink or maybe orangy and can she make you one? Because the answer will be NO!

Terri the Bartender
I love Terri. She puts up with so much of my drunken crap and never misses a beat. Bottle after bottle and half smoked cigarettes. Anyone who has been to the Boathouse with me or made it to a Bash has met her. She can get you fired up before you knew it could happen. She's good like that. But I completely forgot that I started a blog for her so she could start writing. Feel free to stop on by.

That paragraph comes from her post about the crazy Thursday night a few weeks ago. 5 million wackjob stuck in my tiny little bar away from home and Terri set the current world record for pitcher tossing. At my skull.

~

The night finished up as another fine mess. I had every intention of sitting down this morning and telling you all the debauchery. Girls who looked like famous people (she was a cross between Belinda Carlise, good, and Jack Nicholson's Joker, BAD). 4 girls standing around a megatouch machine staring and touching pictures of nekkid girls. They didn't take me up on the suggestion to play shirt/skins. Flipping a coin to decide whether I should to one girl in her mid-20's or two cougars who were sniffing around for fresh meat. Rumor has it that I actually drank beer last night. Inefficient swill that it is. I even have pictures. Pictures of the girls and Terri and probably a super wasted hippy.

But you're just going to have to read the stories and check out the pics later.

Because I just can't exist in a blog world that has Waffles as a reigning tournament winner.

The Three B's

Bacon, butter, and booze. Throw in some nicotine and that's just about all this fat fucker needs to get him through the day. I've got the bacon, butter, and nicotine covered already and just waiting for the end of the day for the final piece. I'll be sitting in the bar wasting precious time talking to insipid girls and the random lunkhead amateur. I'll also pop onto FTP for the traditional pre-Riverchasers micro-NLHE cash giveaway. Want a tiny piece of my really tiny bankroll? Track me down and watch the destruction. My bartab will most likely be higher tonight then my online bankroll and and longer than my

you get the point.

Things are looking like I might be heading a few hours south to spend some time with the boys in DC next week. Silly bacon talk with Daddy and socceroo speak with Garth. Rumor has it that we are going to a restaurant that will allow me to eat my own body weight in foie gras and I hope they have the defib paddles standing by.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it down to Austin for the live Mookie gathering this weekend. It sounds like it's going to be a blast. Beer, shots, golf, and poker. Throw in some mostly-nekkid semi-pro strippers and that's a bender to remember.

I'll be spending my time at a wedding this weekend and then a run down to the Borgata for some private live Riverchasers action. If anyone is going to be in AC this weekend, drop me a line.

I had a nice long drunken rant that I self-censored after sobering up. Just plain deleted it all together. I had a talk with Dr. Pauly Tuesday evening after he found out about the ESPN gig falling through. I was already on the quick slide to the boozy grave but I think I got my points across before it became impossible to form complete sentences.

There are very few people around these days that know the effort Pauly has put in to increase the quality of his blogs and constantly drive up both traffic and rates. During many frustrating times he came close to just dumping the damn things and making his life easier. But he stuck around, gained exposure, caught the sites/sounds, and continued to climb the ladder of poker writers. I think ESPN made a mistake in judgement by not hiring him, but the entire situation was a win/win for Pauly and his readers. If the deal went through, we have a legitimate poker voice at the Worldwide Leader and not some poser-wannabe giving us a literary handjob with glossed over fluff pieces.

But since it fell through, Pauly and his readers still win. Pauly continues to build his exposure on the sites he grew himself and the readers get to read his unique take on the game. From the shiny happy surface to the grungy underbelly of degenerates. It would have been cool to have Pauly writing for the big boys, but in the end, it's really tough to be upset that we're still going to get the uncensored stories.

So cheers to Pauly. Good luck and keep it up.

~

Not sure how I missed this one, but stop over and say Happy Birthday to the greatest cleavage in the history of poker. She's one of my favorites. Ever.

~

I certainly picked the wrong time to take the Texas Rangers on the moneyline.

10 thoooouuuuusand dollars. Over $10,000 actually. The combined prizepools of the 8 BBT events so far has reach $10,229 and we still have 31 left to go. That's pretty sick right there.

69 players for the Mookie last night and I crashed out with barely a whimper. I didn't exactly live up to my prediction the evening before when I drunkenly boasted to Hoy that "I'm winning the fucking Mookie tomorrow!" or some such happy horseshit. I kept up my usual string of good results early, bad in the middle, leaving nothing at the end. But at least I'm not Waffles.

The Blogfather has moved into the Top 5 on the Leaderboard after a couple great late runs. A bunch of people have made moves over the last 3 events and the top is tightening up. Looking at the board, one win can vault someone from the low 30's up into the top 5. It is still any one's game.

Next up is the glorified fishing grounds of my Riverchasers tournament. I have no idea how many will show up but the water is warm and the fish are schooling.

That Feeling, Part 536

As a drunkard, you get used to the occasional uncomfortable moment. The times you wake up and think "what the fook did I do last night". Or your co-workers won't look you directly in the eye after a company happy hour. Or you can't find your pants. My fellow booze hounds know of what I speak.

I had a whole new kind of uncomfortable this morning. I was stuck at a two hour meeting in an office I was unfamiliar with. The office was covered in various pictures of children, grandchildren, dogs, and cats. There was one picture of a female that caught my attention. I knew her but couldn't figure out where until about halfway through the meeting when my brain went, "oh"

OOOHH!!

The last time I saw that particular person she was chugging back car bombs, doing a tasty bump and grind with the wooden pillars, and generally being the "life of the party". Wink wink nudge nudge. One of those random nights when it's impossible to leave the bar because you know the train wreck that is coming down the track straight towards random hookup or projectile vomiting. Hopefully not both at the same time. It was like the lottery, for pooter.

I became distracted in the meeting and the owner of the office noticed me staring at the picture board. The person took time from the meeting to point out the various pictures and their relationship. When his finger landed on the bar super girl, I was ready.

"And this is my pride and joy. Angela(name changed to protect the guilty) is back home on break from college." Wait for it. "We're taking her out this weekend for her 20th birthday to ....."

And there it is. That creepy-crawly I'm going straight to hell uncomfortable feeling. I just never get used to it.

Another great turnout for the MATH Tournament last night. Over $1000 in the prizepool and another fine collection of bloggers and readers. I donked my way around to the final table but never got that high in chips to really do anything. I laid a nice one on Astin when I was a shorty stack with 45 sooooted then went out quickly at the final table when I couldn't convince every else to a 9 way chop. A tough sell when you only have a few BB's.

The 6 players who cashed were a fine group of gentlemen with Chad, TripJax, Sean, ScurvyDog, and dbirider (of PokerOnAMac.com fame) joining your tournament winner, the infamous blogfather. I'm pretty sure he was completely looped on guess and nicotine by the end. Seeing tournaments with Otis, Iggy, Pauly, Scott, ScurvyDog, and Speaker bring back some old memories. Maybe we can get a DoubleAs or Grubby appearance one of these events. Too much to ask for?

~

We decided to wait awhile into the challenge for things to shake out before we further defined how it will run for the rest of the way and to clear up some questions Hoy and Mookie are getting. For some reason no one every bitches to me.

- 2 events out of the first 7 have had some sort of chop for the top money. We told the players they had to play it out for BBT points but some are concerned that some players may not care about the points and just dump. People feel this might cause a tweak in the Leaderboard. So from now til the end of the challenge, if the money is chopped at the end of the tournament the points will be chopped evenly as well. It's a pain in the ass for me, but that's what I do for you. Am I going back and retroactively changing the points from those events, no friggin' way. I'm not that much of a sucker.

- We are currently on a pace to get between $3500 and $4500 in rake back from Full Tilt to be used for prizes. We are going to take half of that to use for a end of challenge freeroll and the other half for prize money to the top point earners. The money going to the leaderboard will be split 50/30/20 to places 1 through 3. The Nintendo Wii and DS Lite systems (generously provided by PokerOnAMac.com) will be awarded to place 4 and 5. In the event of a points tie for position, money earned will be the tie breaker. The projected numbers for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd payouts are $1000, $600, and $400. Not too shabby.

- The other half of the Full Tilt rake back will be used to fund a freeroll for the top players. Previously termed as a Tournament of Champions, now it will be more like an Invitational. We decided to set a hard target for the number of points to qualify and also number of events played. The qualifications will be the Top 50 Point Earners and anyone playing in at least 20 of the 39 BBT events.

So there is your freeroll goal. Top 50 in leaderboard points or 20 events played to get a piece of a freeroll with a prizepool in the $2000 area. The Leaderboard has been updated.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop an email to myself, Mookie, or Hoy.

Big Money, No Whammies, Stop!

MiamiDon posted that it would be nice if there were 30 players in his Blogger Big Game for Sunday night for a prizepool over $2,000. Wishful thinking because there were actually 53 players to show up trying to get a piece of a $3.6k prizepool. As near as my feeble mind can remember going way back to the early days of blogger hosted events, this is the biggest prizepool of any blogger event by far. Congrats to everyone who made the money especially the 4 who chopped for a nice chunk of change. crazdgamer made a nice little profit on his $15 investment in the Tier 2 Token Frenzy by being a part of the chop.

How did I do? It was a frustrating end to my night but I won't go into details. I don't like posting bad beats and I don't have it in me to lay a proper Waffles/Hoy style rant. Suffice it to say that I learned from my mistake. I was stupid enough to actually take this tournament seriously and I was even sober if that tells you anything. From now on I will make sure to play my Ace-really-shitty-ass-kicker out of position like it's the nuts for all my chips. If I'm going to watch horrible plays get rewarded, I'm at least going to make sure I have the pleasure of being snookered at the time. Well played sir, my lesson learned. Analyze this.

~

The Blogger Big Game also threw another $318 into our Full Tilt rake-back pool for the challenge. We're up to $755 just two weeks into the 13 week challenge. I think we're going to be throwing some serious loot at the leaderboard and the end of challenge freeroll on top of the Nintendo Wii and DS Lite systems provided by PokerOnAMAC.com. By the by, if you happen to see bdirider playing at your table in the blogger events, say hi and thanks. He's the one providing the game systems.

$8,423 in prize money, 159 different players, 100 players in the points, and 34 players making the money at least once. Not a bad kickoff the Battle of the Blogger Tournament challenge. The Big Game results and leaderboard are updated on the site.

There are three other tournaments this week which all count towards the leaderboard starting with the MATH tournament tonight. Get your Tier 1 token or buy-in. The first two MATH events of the challenge both had prizepools over $1k.

Just a little something for the girls out there. All 3 who read.

And I couldn't forget about the guys either. And oldie but goodie. Technically the shirt is 'business casual'.
