Links and such stuff

"The guy who invented poker was bright, but the guy who invented the chip was a genius."

- Author Unknown
I found that quote on a new poker blog, Angel Fish, I found out on the intrawebby thing.

While I'm pimping, let's get a couple of new blogs in here and jump up their webstats.

I added two blogs earlier this week, iamhoff and The Silent Four (who's blog is super-double-secret-wife-hidden so ssssssh).

There's also Nick from Future WSoP Champ who threw a marker down on my frappr map. I was surprised to see he was from North East, MD. I believe there are some of the CantHang clan still living in that town making a living by poaching their neighbors crab pots and selling the crustaceans to "dem rich fokes over at da marina". Great area, horrible family members.

~

Speaking of Maryland, and I do believe I was, it's about that time for my 16th annual trek to Ocean City, MD for Super Bowl weekend.

That's called a segue kids. It's a very dangerous toy and should only be used by the most experienced hungover bloggers. It can cause ridicule to be brought down upon you like a Bobby Bracelet quick kick to the ovaries, or stones, in this case.

This little adventure to the OCMD started 16 years ago when Brad and I decided we wanted to get outta town and picked our favorite summer destination. That first year, Giants beats the Bills in their first of 4 straight losing trips to the Super Bowl.

Wide right!

Sorry

I'm going for the record number of links AND the overuse of italics, bolds, and uppercase.

Anyone who happens to be in the Maryland area the first weekend of February, feel free to drop me a line and I'll give you the details.

The weekend includes booze, boobs, buffets, late night drunken swims in the freezing ocean, drunken/hungover laser tag (should be a treat this year with the razor blades which have replaced my knees), and a little football game on Sunday.

~

And what did I do last night? I got back on the booze bus and had a little fun.

Dial-a-shots were rare last night. Someone was sick, someone never called, but you can always count on a world class donkey fucker to be there for ya. (and you need to go read that last link if you're new to this neck o' the woods. Classic.)

Sitting at the bar last night, I spent equal amounts of time annoying ScubaSteve via IM from bar and surfing online. Some booze was flowing, of course.

Eventually I made my way to the virtual tables on Full Tilt for a little low limit Razz lemur-style poker.

By the end of the night (and I mean end of the night as in the bartender had all the barstools up except ours) I had done my first dial-a-shot with SirWiffleBall and Chief Big Toke (who chugged a beer in lieu of a shot). I played 3 of the games involved in HORSE. Razz with the bloggers on FTP, Omaha/8 ring on PokerStars with WiffleMan, then a Stud/8 MTT on Stars.

Go figure. I'm loaded to the tits, the bar is getting ready to close, and I managed to finish 150 out of 500. I could have gone higher but I had to leave and just basically gave my chips away on a huge draw.

I AM THE GREATEST STUD/8 PLAYER EVER!
Italics, bold, capitalization, AND blockquote. Damn I'm good.

~

I know some of the bloggers will be relieved, Whiplash is alive and well.

~

Finally, ScubaSteve's song of the week. Enjoy. Now can anybody tell me who originally recorded this song and what other songs of theirs that Quiet Riot covered?

~

24 external links in a shitty post. I'm a golden linking god. (I think Eva is on the phone with Bellevue or the Betty Ford Clinic at this very moment)

Cheers and have a good weekend.

Blantantly stolen from RuthlessJack

A South American Scientist, from Argentina, after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with insufficient sexual activity in their lives tend to read blog entries with their hand still on the mouse.

Don't bother taking it off, it's too late....

Poker and LadyRaptastic

Nope.

I didn't go. I'll probably regret when I'm old and decrepit. 6 months from now. It's just not like the old days when it was cake hoping up and traveling to distant hick towns for good shows. It actually occurred to me the other day the I've lost that ringing in my ears that came from so many shows and standing in front of bass bins as tall as me.

I miss that almost as much as I miss the hangover I don't have today.

Damned old age.

I should have spent yesterday trying to figure out which ear was more damaged and where to donate my organs. Instead I spent Tuesday night playing poker at Landow's.

And who's says I don't live a rock stars life?

~

The elimination of poker at the boathouse on Tuesday's caused an expected gap in our week for attending a bar-related function. We had gotten used to having Tuesday set aside every week to play some poker and drink some booze. So Landow and I decided to set up our own little poker tour.

Well, not really a tour since every week will be at his house, but you'll get the point.

We decided the throw a series of weekly tournies culminating in a Tourney of Champs in 6 weeks. It was nice because we had the same crew we like to hang out with and removed the mouth breathers we've come to expect at the boathouse game. It makes for a tougher tournament but a good time with our friends.

11 players showed up for the first night which wasn't bad considering we only gave two hours notice. We even had a special guest when ScubaSteve showed up with a jug of the local brew pubs Pale Ale. I managed to dodge some bullets and pick up the occasional pot. JDub was nice enough to jump on the bubble while I was very shortstacked to squeak me into the money.

It was a good time for the first effort and next week should be even better. Bloggers coming into town, the game is still on.

~

Last night was the Special Omalympics set up by Jordan and TripJax. It was a great turnout for a Pot Limit Omaha/8 tourney and was a blast.

My normal tournament situations popped up again. Get the hands early and pick up some small pots then go card friggin' dead for the next hour until you are forced to push and get busted out. I finished 26th out of 47 which blows donkey balls.

Here's how it ended on the final table with links included...

1. SlagPile
2. ZeemJr
3. Felicia
4. SirWaffleHouse
5. DuggleBogey
6. ThePokerBus
7. Veneno (does this actually count since her husband started the tourney for her?) jokes. I kid.
8. BoobieLover
9. Jordan. One of your hosts, ladies and gentleman. How 'bout a round of applause.

Thanks for Jordan and TripJax for another fun tourney.

~

Now for something completely different. You might not believe this one.

I was cruising around, checking referrals and links and such when I came across someone linking up to a song on ScubaSteve's upload section. The link looked familiar and it hit me.

ScubaSteve uploaded a Christmas song from someone named LadyRaptistic. Go ahead, check it out. You know you want to.

Imagine my surprise when I get a link back from the LadyRaptastic herself.

No shit.

Here she is.

And if I still haven't convinced you to check her out, here's part of her blogger profile description...

I am a strong black female rapper just doin her thang and keepin it real. I like hot dogs and coffee cakes dipped in butter. Mmmmm....

I just can't make this shit up. You have to see it for yourselves.

Peace out my brothers and sisters.

Dilemma? You decide

Jordan and Tripjax have their next tourney setup and it should be interesting. Who's up for a little PLO8?

I'll be there, come kick my ass again.

Terrence Chan has an excellent post up about playing NLHE with Mike The Mouth this weekend down in the Bahamas. Check it out.

~
I'm having a bit of a dilemma today. I just found out last night around midnight that Anthrax is playing 90 minutes away in a great club where friends of mine just played last weekend. Man, I really want to go. The problem is finding anyone else to go. As I get older, it gets tougher to find people to take these last minute club runs on a "school" night.

It's probably been 10 years since Brad and I saw them at the TLA in Philly. Brad got to chill out with Scott Ian while smoking out front. The band wasn't touring for any particular album and played a lot of 'classic' Anthrax even with John Bush on lead vocals. A very cool moment occurred during a song break when someone yelled "SLAYER!" and they immediately broke into a Slayer set.

How can I not go see them with the classic lineup?

Allentown is also the place where I saw one of my first-best-craziest-badass thrash shows involving Nuclear Assault and Testament inside a friggin' warehouse. Complete mayhem. I walked out with a shredded leather jacket, broken glasses, and a probable concussion.

God damn I wanna go.

~

Making the decision a little bit easier is the fact that free poker (poker free?) Tuesday at the Boathouse are kaput. No more. Done. Helixx and Donkeypuncher caught the last free tourney.

Maybe it's time for me to re-start the pay-to-play Saturday tournies?

~

That's the best you're getting from me today. My brain is fried from company-required education which is making my eye's bleed and my temper shorten.

I wish I could find a way to release some tension tonight.....

Hallo mig bekendte

It turns out I have a visitor from the Faroe Islands. Click on the link if you don't know where they are. I didn't either. Their current population is listed as approx. 48,000. If I had the same per capita visitors for the U S of A, that would mean I had 6,000 some odd readers. Score!

But I don't. So Cheers to the Faroe Islands.

Have you signed up on my map?
